Did Yoda’s Sex Scene Go ‘Too Far’?
The Star Wars franchise has been well-received for almost 50 years now, and it doesn’t seem to be leaving us any time soon; and for good reason. The series tends to play it safe when it comes to controversial topics such as race, religion or homosexuality. Why, then, did Scene 8b from Attack of the Clones ever even exist?
For those that are unfamiliar, Scene 8b was a once-thought-to-be-lost take of an alternate script where Yoda is seen receiving oral sex from Jedi Master Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson). The scene is graphic to say the least.
“Yeah, I thought it was weird that they asked me to go down on a puppet, sure,” said Jackson in an interview with The Nimrod, “but I’ve worked with Tarantino; I’m pretty used to weird requests.”
And while it is entirely possible to have a tastefully sexual scene even in a science-fiction film, Scene 8b just missed the mark.
“There was a lot of slurping noises involved that we asked Samuel to make,” said George Lucas in an interview with TMZ, “and the censors just weren’t comfortable with the raw sexual energy that puppet could produce.”
Many fans criticize the post-production addition of pigs squealing in the background of the scene as it overshadows the slurping Jackson worked so hard to perfect. But the real reason for its removal from Episode II was that it was deemed too “adult” for a family audience.
“I just don’t get it,” sighed Lucas in his TMZ interview “if Back to the Future can get away with Marty McFly’s mother trying to fuck him, why can’t I have Samuel L. Jackson suck off a puppet?”
